Deadlifts vs RDLs

Deadlifts are a compound movement, meaning you use your full body to execute the exercise. RDLs or Romanian Deadlifts are deadlifts cousin, maybe even its sister. Very similar, but not the same. In this video, you can see the similarities and differences between the two exercises. Watch with the sound on.

Main takeaways: 1. Both are hip dominant exercises. 2. Deadlifts are more full body, RDLs are more hamstring- and glute-focused. 3. Shin angle is key. 4. RDL range of motion will differ based on the individual. 5. Both can be performed with several different modalities -- barbell, kettlebell, dumbbells, cable, bands, etc.

I understand that fitness is not your whole life. Fitness is a PART of your life. I approach training in a way that adds value to your life and longevity, so you can enjoy being active whether you're romping around in the mountains, playing with your kids, or signing up for your first 10K race.

I'm here to meet you where you are, so you can train safely and effectively, and gain strength and confidence both in the gym and on the trails.
