Yesterday, I went on a hike with a friend to Fontenelle Forest. We couldn't pass up the chance to enjoy the 50-60-degree weather that we've been having lately. Although it was plenty muddy, it was an incredible time. The weather was perfect and it was nice to get outdoors after routinely exercising in a gym. It's always very refreshing to do something different for exercise, especially outdoors. Nature is a powerful thing!
During the winter, especially here in Nebraska, it's likely that you aren't going outside for your workouts. But now that it has started warming up, it's time to get geared up and ready for some outdoor exercise! I can tell you that breathing in fresh, crisp air with green scenery is much more appealing than the stagnant stench of BO and a treadmill screen. Don't get me wrong, I love lifting weights, but you have to change up the scenery every now and then! PLUS, it's incredibly important for your health and well-being to get outside and get movin'. Whether you enjoy jogging, biking, playing basketball, or hiking, there's something out there for everyone.
Exercising outdoors provides many health benefits:
1. Relieves stress
2. Boosts mood
3. Improves self-confidence
4. Serves as a source of Vitamin D
5. It's cheap/free (Some of us are ballin' on a budget!)
6. Allows for others to join - friends, family, etc.
7. Enhances your overall physical health
If those benefits didn't convince you enough, see for yourself --> I will be hosting an outdoor workout EVERY Sunday near Hefflinger Park (around 120th & Blondo) once the warmer weather decides to stay. Watch for an email in the future for details!
XOXO
