Yesterday we had the pleasure of receiving an extra hour of sleep (HOLLAAA), but that also means now we will be experiencing less daylight for the next several weeks. I don't know many people who look forward to driving to work in the dark and driving home in the dark, so brace yourselves! Adjusting can be difficult unless you prepare with the following.
PREP THE NIGHT BEFORE
The dark and cold mornings may leave you groggier than usual, so plan ahead. Now is the time to start prepping your meals the night before, if you haven't been already. Get your backpack, briefcase, gym bag, or whatever it may be ready the night before, so you aren't running around like a chicken with it's head cut off in the morning.
HIT THE GYM EARLY
It can be tough finding the motivation to go back out into the chilly darkness after returning home from work. Start your morning off with a gym sesh, so you won't have to think about it after work.
HOT BREAKFAST IN THE MORNING
What's better than a hot breakfast on a chilly fall morning? Kick off your morning with some yummy oatmeal, nut butter, and ground cinnamon (my personal favorite) or scrambled eggs and avocado toast. I'm getting hungry and cozy just thinking about it!
PACK HEALTHY SNACKS
Your body will need some time to adjust to the hour difference, so don't leave yourself in a bind when your stomach starts growling earlier than anticipated. Pack healthy snacks in your purse, gym bag, or desk drawer. Energy-boosting snacks like fruit or nuts will be sure to hold you over until your lunch break.
However you decide to cope is up to you and your lifestyle, but instead of denying the season of fall, embrace it! Embrace the hot soups, warm sweaters, and fuzzy socks! The season is here to stay, so you might as well enjoy it!
XOXO
