Change isn't comfy

Lately I've been hearing a lot of the "I can't"s.

I can't lift for 20 minutes because I have xyz.

I can't go for a walk because I have xyz.

I can't run because I have xyz.

And while all of those reasons are valid, I'm going to push you to think again. Think about how you can change I can't to I can.

If you can't take 20 minutes to lift in the afternoon, wake up 20 minutes earlier and get it done then.

If you can't go for a walk, find another way to get movement in throughout your day.

We don't have the same 24 hours in a day.

I will be the first to say that.

I don't have kids.

My dog is about the only thing I need to keep alive, fed, and happy every day.

I work mostly from home.

And I have a fully equipped home gym.

So no, I don't know what it's like to commute 1+ hours one-way, take care of 2 kids, and still have to find time to workout, eat, sleep, and breathe.

But you're doing yourself a disservice if you say you can't find 30 minutes 2-3x/week to move your body. It isn't a busy issue. It's a time management issue.

Make the choice to move 3x/week instead of binge-watching Hulu.

Make the choice to walk around the block with your fam after dinner.

Make the choice to go for a short and light run instead of doom-scrolling.

Change is uncomfortable.

But you won't change your outcome if you don't change your habits.

Change your narrative and get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Tough love 'round here today. You got this.

Disclaimer: I encourage rest days and times of less structured movement, especially during certain seasons of life, vacation, etc. My take on moving your body 3x/week is a blanket statement for overall health and consistency.
