3 Benefits of Getting Outside

It's no secret that I'm a fiend for the outdoors. If you ask me to do essentially any outdoor activity, I'll say, "yes".

Although it's generally for some sort of movement or endurance training, there are multiple benefits to getting outside regularly.

1. Vitamin D.

Sunshine is an excellent source of Vitamin D, which many do not get enough of. Let the sun hit your arms for at least 20 minutes to reap the most benefits. Suns out, guns out truly has multi-meaning!

2. Stress relief.

Getting outside allows you to literally step away from the office to get your mind off of work. Get some fresh air, take a few deep breaths, and have a mental health break steps away from your home or work.

3. Physical health benefits.

You'll likely walk longer and further outside that you would if you were to stay inside or walk around your house or office. I know how easy it is to get sucked into working right through lunch and forgetting to even get up to go to the bathroom. Walking around your block or neighborhood builds up your step count and keeps you mobile throughout the day.

If these benefits didn't convince you, think about it in the sense of dogs. You see how excited dogs are to be outside? Take it as a sign that being outside is a positive thing!
